I know it has been days since i had my fall. It was a Tuesday 16 June 2009 at around 11am in the morning when i crashed and hit my head on something, no one knows what, in my room. A minor head injury i had to go for stitches at a clinic. However the doctor refused to stitch me up and sent me to the A & E at any hospital instead. I know, A & E, not that serious wad? Right. Well, the reason why i got sent to the hospital was because of what caused me to fall.
Ever heard of a head rush? or headrush? Because the nurses and doctors don't seem to know what a head rush or headrush is. They assume it's fainting but it's not because fainting means losing consciousness and i didn't lose consciousness. Ok, maybe partly. I'm not even sure if what i suffered is called a head rush or headrush or whether the term even existed. Got the term of a Meg Cabot book. No idea if she came up with her own terms. Let me explain what i think if it is even called a headrush or head rush is. It is when you are lying down and then you immediately stand up and then your head will hurt and your legs will turn to jelly and you are somehow pulled to the ground as though gravity suddenly becomes stronger.
Of course i had it before, during the fasting month. But they were never that serious until recently. My fall was actually the 3rd one this week. The first one was on a Friday after Friday prayers. I was lying down on the sofa watching tv and i immediately stood up to see what my father had cooked in the kitchen. Upon reaching the kitchen entrance the headrush or head rush came. I had to close my eyes because my head hurt and i was aware that i was spinning on the spot, slowly. I began touching the wall for support but i was going down. I did manage to control myself from crashing. I heard my father calling my name rather loudly and worriedly. My little sister came and i managed to graciously sit on the kitchen floor with my legs in front of me when the headrush or head rush finally came to an end. 'Wow' i thought. Now that one definitely lasted longer than usual. Later during the day Sheila told me that my face was so red when i had the headrush or head rush.
So from that i now conclude that a headrush or head rush is when the blood rushes into your head. The second one was in the same morning as the 3rd one. I was sleeping on the bed at my parents' room and immediately stood up and made my way to my room to return back to the mattress on the floor. And then it came but i managed to crash onto the mattress. It lasted like on the 1st day, quite long. And then i continued sleeping.
Now comes the 3rd one. I was awake but still lying on the mattress. I stood up immediately to switch off the air-con manually (because we lost the remote control). After successfully switching it off, it came. It was pretty nasty. Because my two sisters were on the bed which i was facing, i saw them looking at me and they were calling my name. By this time i was still suffering from the headrush or head rush and was holding my head with both my hands. As i finally sat on the floor i moved my left hand over my head when suddenly a finger when down into a hole in my head. I brought the bloody finger to my eyes and freaked out. The headrush or head rush finally ended.
Hours later i asked my sister why they were looking at me. Did i scream? She said she heard an extremely loud thud that caused them both to wake up and when she saw me, i was swaying from left to right. So you see no one knows what i hit, not even me because i didn't even know that i hit something. I didn't even hear the loud thud that they heard. So yeah. Went to NUH for checkup. I'm currently under observation by my family because the doctor couldn't find anything wrong with me.
The doctor had to shave a patch of hair because my hair is too long in order to stitch the skin back together. So now i'm left with a botak patch, a scar on my head. So sad but no choice. I was so worried the other day about the botak patch because my dad already saw it and he said it's the size of my thumb, an inch. Quite thick uh. Oh yeah the wound was very deep. The doctor at the clinic said she could see the bone. Now that is deep. Anyways, i was touching it just now and to my surprise i was touching a shaved patch of hair, a stubble. Kinda like a velcro strap. Which means my hair will grow back? Ryt? Well i really hope so.
Currently i look damn ugly with the bandage all around my head. Haha. The nurses at the clinic said i look like rambo while my sister said it looks like a coconut tree with a bunch of my sexy curls on top of my head. Gahh.. I shall put on a bandana if i were to go out. No, i'm not going to embarrass myself by putting an ugly picture of me here. Uh uh, no way.
EDIT*
OMG! I typed head rush at Ask.com and then under related searches for head rush i clicked on Head rush when i stand up and then i clicked on the 2nd link. Oh gosh. It's called Orthostatic Hypotension or colloquially head rush. Now according to Wiki patients who are prone to orthostatic hypotension are the elderly, postpartum mothers, those who have been on bedrest and teenagers because of their large amounts of growth in a short period of time and people suffering from anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. Oh gosh. No i hope in my case it's the large amount of growth in a short period of time. Yes. Oh..
